ENGLISH 11 (1, 6, and 7)

Students need to use computer paper to draw a scene from a Western.  This can be based on “The Outcasts of Poker Flat” or from modern media (Tombstone, Red Dead Redemption, etc.)  USE COMPUTER PAPER AND COLOR.

SHORT STORIES (2)

Finish your creative short story and turn it in.  If everyone has their stories turned in, we may start the second film based on “It Had to Be Murder” on Wednesday.

AP LITERATURE (3)

Finish your acrostic and start poem #4 – it is self-explanatory.  Also think about your artwork for each poem.  The minimum line requirement for #4 is about 12.

NOVELS (5)

Tomorrow we will continue presentations.  For today, write a series of diary entries from the point of view of a character in one of the novels you’ve read this semester.  It should be at least two pages in length – include the title of the book and its author.

Next SAT testing date is May 7th — I recommend taking a spring test your Junior year if you are planning on applying to colleges. Seniors, you only have two SAT testing dates left.

NOTE: Tomorrow, I will be out.  Each class will have an assignment due at the end of the period.  Periods 1, 6, and 7 will need to bring your literature book.

ENGLISH 11

  1. Journals — all journals on the sheet are due when we get back from Spring Break. (Extra journal sheets in the metal basket.)
  2. Slacker work: Reading & Thinking Critically 1-8; Reading & Vocabulary 1-2 and Practice 1-3;Literary Analysis 1-2 and a paragraph response for Writing About Literature.  Staple the notes, organizer, and page 489 together and turn it in by tomorrow!  This was DUE 3/11
  3. “The Outcasts of Poker Flat” by Bret Harte (504)

  2. You should already have completed 1) notes and 2)a web graphic organizer.
  3. Add to that page 489: Reading & Thinking Critically 1-8; Reading & Vocabulary 1-2 and Practice 1-3; Literary Analysis 1-2 and a paragraphresponse for Writing About Literature.
  4. Staple the notes, organizer, and page 489 together and turn in TODAY.

SHORT STORIES

  1. Begin brain storming/rough draft of short story — it does not have to be humorous.
  2. I would like something new and original — not your creative writing class left-overs :)
  3. I will be checking what you have at the end of the period for a grade!

Someone “borrowed” my calculator; it’s a brownish, generic one with colored buttons and my name on it.  I’d like it back please.

Novels

  1. Project work day.
  2. People presenting projects tomorrow will be graded more favorably as long as they have everything they need:
  • Present* two books and movie.
  • Discuss theme and connection.
  • Show and discuss product.
